I was born in Haarlem, the Netherlands. My training for musician and educator, specializing also in harmony and counterpoint, I received at Music College in Utrecht (The Netherlands).
Under the auspicious of The British Council in Amsterdam, which offered a scholarship, I immersed my guitar studies with prof. Gordon Crosskey in Manchester.
I toured as both soloist and chamber musician in Europe and South America, where I among others appeared in Teatro Colon.
As a teacher I’ve a lot of experience with prepatory education of classical guitar, ear-training and music theory, all of my students are now studying at a music conservatoires in Europe. I also served as part-time teacher at the Stockholm Royal Academy of Music.
I have had a Gitarrduo with guitarist Stanley Yates, when he was still living in Liverpool(UK), before Stanley moved to the U.S. in the 1980s.
I am a frequent guest lecturer at the annual guitar festival organized by the Swedish Guitar and Lute society, of which I became chairman 2015.
Together with guitarist / composer Bo Hansson I form a guitar duo as well as two separate duo’s with violinists Torbjörn Westman and Astrid Nordström. And together with Elena Casoli and Bo Hansson we form the trio “Viva Project”, we perform Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons for guitar trio. In september 2016 we performed this att the Royal Castle of Stockholm and I did solo performance/ seminar on the music by the british composer Stephen Dodgson at Uppsala International Guitarfestival. I also perform with Yvonne Nordström who is the co-composer of Bubbles, a collection of educational pieces for the intermediate guitarist, which are for sale on the webshop on this site.
In autumn 2017 I, together with Jakob Henriques, performed at the Uppsala International Guitarfestival a concerto for two guitars and ensemble by Leo Brouwer, Concierto de Tricastin with Leo Brouwer as the conductor.
The following years until now 2023 I have a lot of different constellations within chambermusic. Astrid Nordström, violin; Cecilia Alriksson, song; Birger Marmvik, organ; Thomas Garnbeck, guitar. Since 2022 I founded a folk music group, Emådalens Kapell, where we have violin, key fiddle, hurry-gurdy, double-bas, guitar and I play the harp. Together with the vocalgroup Vox Magica we highlighted this year at the Medeltidsveckan on the Swedish Island of Gotland performing Volund by Jan Ekedahl, Eva Sjöstrand and Mats Hallberg.
